Some of the best military bands and musicians in the world will be performing in Norway this spring when the Norwegian Military Tattoo premieres in May at the Oslo Spektrum Arena.
“It’s seen as extra prestigious to perform in Norway,” says Colonel Christer Johannesen, Chief Executive and Producer of the Norwegian Military Tattoo that will run from May 11-13.
Among the main attractions this year is The US Army Band – “Pershing’s Own,” which is one of the most high-profile musical corps in the US and often selected by US President Barack Obama to perform at various ceremonies. Permission to take part in the Norwegian Military Tattoo was granted at the Pentagon level, indicating the band’s exclusivity.
The US Air Force Honor Guard Drill Team will also perform at the Oslo Spektrum in May, along with a long list of European military music corps and Norway’s own Air Force and Navy bands and the King’s Guard. Soloists include famed Norwegian trumpet player Ole Edvard Antonsen.
